Introduction
Registration for classes can be annoying (getting a late registration time, not getting all the grades you want, being forced to take an 8 am class, or worse, a Friday afternoon class). So for those of you who got stuck with late registration and are still in need of one more class, look no further. Electives are a fun way to try something new, explore new interests, and get attention.
Here is a list of some of the best electives classes that you must take.
Culture: Fashion and Globalization: In this class you will study how fashion is a form of globalization and, as a result, will get to talk about the cycle of chic, modern fashion trends, and ways to expand your style. The class occurs three times a week, and after one semester, you will be able to call yourself a fashion expert.
Classical Mythology: For those of you who either loves Mythology or want to study more about it, this class is a gem for you. In this class, you get to explore how Greek and Roman Mythology are present in literature, art, and in the items of Ancient Greece and Rome. You get a chance to read from famous Greeks such as Homer (the famous Odysseus) and Sophocles (Oedipus) and Romans such as Virgil and Ovid.
Food Photography: Troubled with foodstagramming? This class meets once a week all day and show students how to capture professional pics of food. I mean, who wouldn’t want to know how to gain pro food photographer status on Instagram?
Adaptation: Screenplay and Source Material: Ever wondered how your beloved books made into movies? This course will teach students how filmmakers adapt books into the mechanism of film and the confusions surrounding it. The course also describes how filmmakers make these books come to life.
The Science of Happiness: Also known as, how to be Happy in College and a favorite among NYU students, this class targets the mental health and well-being of college students. The course explores young adulthood, and many of the challenges college students face while in their new college environments.
