Once contracts are signed off, organizations tend to keep them in a storage house for future use viz. breach of contract, contract expiration and few more. Here is webinar wherein industry experts will talk about contract management optimization pre and post execution.
A medium to large sized corporation has several templates for each contract type. Templates are customized to suit the geography, number of parties, scope and intent. Managing these templates is a huge challenge for the legal team. It is difficult to track various versions of each template, which of them is the latest one, which one is applicable for which office. If a clause is reworded, it is a challenge to certify that all templates that bear that clause have been updated. Besides, the ultimate goal for the legal team would be to “dis-intermediate” themselves as much as possible – allowing the business users to use an automated system to generate and execute several types of standard contracts on their own.
An ideal contract management solution would be a cloud based centralized repository for all templates and forms. It should allow the legal firms/lawyers to upload and edit pre-approved templates. Such a system should allow business users to feed in business language (as opposed to legalese) and generate final contracts on their own, while helping the legal team maintain a control on all contracts.
