Lawry's The Prime Rib

Our name is our specialty: Roasted Prime Ribs of Beef. We serve the finest aged beef available, slowly roasted to perfection, and carved tableside from our famous silver carts.

It all began in 1938 when Lawrence L. Frank and his brother-in-law Walter Van de Kamp open the first Lawry's The Prime Rib in Beverly Hills. Lawrence and Walter decided to serve just one entree - roasted prime ribs of beef. They were determined to make it the best meal in America, and to present it with such style and fanfare that dining at Lawry's would be a truly unforgettable experience. Nothing like Lawry's had ever been before in America. Lawrence's instincts told him the restaurant should be elegant but not intimidating and appeal to all. The restaurant’s splendor would be reflected in the way each part of the dinner was prepared and presented. He designed the famous "silver" carts (hammered out of stainless steel) for carving the beef tableside.

The original Lawry’s The Prime Rib anchored what would become Beverly Hill’s world famous “Restaurant Row”. A second Lawry’s The Prime Rib opened in Chicago in 1974, followed by additional locations in Dallas in 1983 and Las Vegas in 1997. In addition, licensed Lawry’s The Prime Rib restaurants are operated internationally in Singapore, Tokyo, Taipei, Hong Kong and Osaka.
