Introduction
Access English provides English resources for teachers in Key Stage 2, 3 and 4. In Key Stage 3, each 'unit', or scheme of work contains an editable PowerPoint presentation that sets the context for the scheme, and anchors the learning to the APP Assessment Focuses, enabling the teacher to frequently reflect back on the scheme's objectives and assessment criteria, guiding students as they consider their learning, their own personal targets, and their progress towards their targets.
The resource books and workbooks are at the core of all Access English resources, providing stimulating material to promote a range of classroom activities - discussions, role plays, investigations etc. Differentiated materials enable the teacher to easily plan for students at different points in their learning.
Uniquely, each scheme of work is supported by a homework presentation for the school's VLE platform, which fulfils the OFSTED criterion for 'Outstanding' lessons: 'Homework tasks significantly enhance pupils' learning'.
All schemes of work provide an assessment activity focused on the APP criteria, while peer assessment materials promote 'systematic approaches to target setting and feedback'.
Finally, all Access English units are fully 'dyslexia friendly', and come complete with editable teachers' notes.
