Live Oak Brewing Company is truly a home-grown Austin enterprise. Two of Austin's own homebrewers Chip McElroy and Brian Peters literally hand-built the brewery and were the two main brewers keg washers delivery persons and proselytizers. This fine establishment has great beer selection great food (burgers) and a great atmosphere. The staff and crowd are both always friendly. Inside you will find a couple of booths two dartboards and a pool table. Outside there is a relaxing covered patio that is great for drinking cold beer on a summer afternoon or evening. You will often see people bringing their dogs to have a beer outside. Super! The beer selection is really excellent and the atmosphere is real. Food is typical bar food. A Message from Davis Tucker North by Northwest came into existence from an idea that I had many years ago ' that great craft brewed beer and fabulous food could come together in a fun and interesting atmosphere. I chose the name North by Northwest because I wanted to convey the image of the Northwest where many brew pubs and micro-breweries got their start. The Austin Ginger Man served fine beers since 1994 in the original location on 4th Street. Due to changing commercial interests in the downtown area we have moved to a new location just a fraction of a block away. The not-really-old but not-really-new pub has some new things and a lot of the old pub in it. Come visit us'we think we've kept the comfortable feel of the old pub and of course the beer is still the most important thing here.
